Carciofo Liminale is Maqueda's tribute to the artichoke, from the Palermo house whose creator builds his perfumes around nigredo, alchemy's stage of blackening and decay. It was presented alongside Figo Liminale, and the house calls it a new olfactory world that honours vegetables and lightens them. Bitter green artichoke opens with helichrysum, then beeswax and honey brighten the vegetal note before carob and cocoa butter round it into a soft, edible base. Maqueda says the formula went through an isomerisation.
