Althaïr is Parfums de Marly's study of vanilla, an eau de parfum composed in 2023 by Hamid Merati-Kashani with Ilias Ermenidis. The house built it on Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar, chosen as a descendant of the vanilla that reached France under Louis XV, the king whose court and horses the house takes its names from. It opens on bergamot and mandarin, warms through orange blossom and cardamom, and settles over guaiac wood and praline. Founder Julien Sprecher calls it a majestic, subtle and surprisingly fresh vanilla.

Ça Fleure Bon's review (14 September 2023) quotes Merati-Kashani on the hard part of the brief: pairing citrus with vanilla without it turning sticky. Editor Michelyn Camen found it vanilla-forward but neither heavy nor overly sweet, with the citrus keeping the opening fresh.
