Whispered Myths is the Imaginary Authors scent for a novel by the invented Farzan Al Essa, in which Azzam Issa, worn down by long hours at his family's bakery and his job guarding the Louvre, hears statues whisper and finds his own identity among the ghosts. Josh Meyer first made it for a perfume shop in Dubai, around a rare Cambodian oud; the eau de parfum sets that smoky oud against cantaloupe, then cedar, honey, ambrette and a salvaged-shipwreck accord.

Imaginary Authors tells how Whispered Myths began: made exclusively for a perfume shop in Dubai, it was the house's first venture into costly materials, a rare Cambodian oud. It joined the regular line in 2017 at a higher price, which the house later brought down to match its other scents.

Now Smell This's Jessica reviewed Whispered Myths on 28 November 2018, crediting the book to the imaginary author Farzan Al Essa. She found cantaloupe first, then a smoky, earthy oud that eases into honey and cedar and dries down faintly animalic and a little salty; the eau de parfum sold at $48 for 14 ml and $120 for 50 ml.
