American Psycho is release 001 of Xyrena's Cinematic Scent Archive, the house's official fragrance for the film, made in association with Pressman Film and composed by founder Killian Wells around Patrick Bateman's world of sex, status and opulence. Wells calls it a loud, sexy aromatic. The extrait opens on sorbet, chardonnay and a herbal-mint facial-mask accord, heats through Sichuan pepper and clove, then settles into metallic ambroxan, crème brûlée from Dorsia and cigar tobacco.

Fumerie Parfumerie lists American Psycho at $132 for a 50 ml parfum extrait, credited to Killian Wells and dated 2023. It comes in the "XHS" case with a blotter made as a replica of Bateman's business card, and samples are not sold online.

Xyrena sells American Psycho as a 50 ml extrait at $132, release 001 of its Cinematic Scent Archive, in the matte-black VHS-cassette flacon, crediting Wells as perfumer and Pressman Film as partner. In October 2023 it sold at $128 in a black square flask under a gold studded cap, and the house's copy then named saffron, lavender, sandalwood and musk where it now names cardamom and cigar tobacco.

Ahead of the launch, Killian Wells told Perfumer & Flavorist he was working on the official American Psycho fragrance, inspired by Patrick Bateman: "a loud and sexy aromatic" for the indulgent 1980s. He also designed the packaging, with an original illustration of Christian Bale in the role.
