Michael Nordstrand's hay for Whisper of Melancholy, Scent Trunk's 2026 Original Edition, in which four perfumers were each handed one material and one place — his are hay and Norway. It takes its name from tungsinn, the Scandinavian word for the melancholy bred by long winters and dwindling light, and is built on hay cured on wooden poles: jute, holy grass, fennel and tobacco flower over barley, deer's tongue and cypress heartwood, with cade, labdanum, honey and benzoin underneath.
