Bread in Chestnut is the Scents of Wood gourmand the house files under its chestnut barrels, its organic cane alcohol aged in a wood more porous than oak. Perfumer Meabh McCurtin built it as a balsamic bread: cardamom and camphorous rosemary open over toasted bran absolute and chestnut, smoked olibanum cuts through the sweetness of the benzoin, and buttery New Caledonian sandalwood with almond-edged tonka carries it down. An Eau de Parfum.

Parfumo wearers split on the loaf. One finds a strong, realistic grain note that lasts for most of the wear, another smells raw ingredients on a table before anything is baked, and a third swings between cinnamon raisin loaf and rosemary focaccia from one day to the next.
