Geranium from Tauer, chocolate cake from Meo Fusciuni, and a missing cat

Geranium Absolue is the fourth of Andy Tauer's Absolue line — the series in which he goes back to his old Tauerville ideas and takes each one a touch deeper — after Rose, Vanilla and April's Patch. This one is the whole plant, leaf to flower: bergamot, lemon and herbs open it green, the Bourbon geranium heart runs leafy and rosy, and underneath sits the usual Tauer warmth of tonka, labdanum and oakmoss. CHF 155 for 50 ml in the blue pentagon, on the house's own shop since 11 September; Aus Liebe zum Duft and VAVAVOOM are taking pre-orders.

Amara Vita is Meo Fusciuni's first gourmand, shown at Pitti Fragranze and on sale since 7 September. The story behind it is a love ending and a chocolate cake eaten through it, bite by bite: cocoa is the centre — "similar to a Sacher torte", in the house's own comparison — with raspberry and candied blood orange beside it and a base of benzoin, vetiver, leather and oud. A parfum, €220 for 100 ml, and VAVAVOOM had the first tracked bottle on the 11th.

Vanilla Aube landed on the day Ormonde Jayne named for it. Aus Liebe zum Duft had the 88 ml in stock at €260 on 8 September, Perfumology still sells it at $275 under the old /vanilla-mistral address — and the house's own shop, first on the list of places it said it would be sold, had no page for it on launch day. If you missed last week: same juice as Vanilla Mistral, renamed over a trademark, formula untouched.

Two names join the Watch, and neither house has said anything.

Thomas de Monaco's Fuego Futuro — the smoky one of the six Gold Collection extraits, Maurus Bachmann, 2023 — has sold out almost everywhere at once. Luckyscent at $345 behind a back-in-stock form, ZGO on the 8th, Scent Grade on the 9th, Les Senteurs down to a sample; Aus Liebe zum Duft is the one shop still holding a full bottle, at €275. The other five extraits sit on the same shelves untouched, so this is one fragrance and not a house. The house sells nothing itself, and its site still lists Fuego Futuro as if nothing were wrong.

And Comme des Garçons has taken Grace by Grace Coddington out of its own catalogue — fifty-five fragrances on the house site, back to Odeur 53, and the cat is not among them; its product page is gone too. Ministry of Scent still lists all three formats at the 2016 prices and cannot sell any of them; Luckyscent is out and taking names for a restock. On paper a disappearance rather than a discontinuation. In practice there is not much left to tell the two apart.
