Nishane has put Hold Me Closer on sale, on 15 October, after introducing it at gatherings in Cannes with Demitri Zujew's short film, shot between Nara and the foothills of Mount Fuji. Alexandre Helwani composed it, and it closes the Second Verse of the house's Rumi Collection. The house writes about an ozone-filled sky and a final embrace, and what it actually lists is angelica, pink pepper and pear liqueur over hawthorn, chamomile and an Earth CO₂ extract, on tonka, papyrus and a warm skin accord. The earth extract is the part Nishane calls unprecedented. On its own shop it is €95 for 15 ml, €225 for 50 ml and €325 for 100 ml, and Beautique in Dubai has had the 100 ml up since 20 October at AED 1,449.
Atkinsons has said nothing about Amber Empire, and has stopped selling it all the same. By 20 October it was gone from the shop's collections and from its search; the page still opens if you know the link, and shows the 100 ml eau de toilette at €170, sold out, while Ambre Royal next to it can still be ordered. Amber Empire is Maurice Roucel's 2015 rebuild of a 1927 Atkinsons original, oolong tea, sandalwood, myrrh and incense over vanilla. Only a month ago, on 17 September, Fragrantica's Elena Prokofeva was steering amber lovers away from the house's loud new ambers and towards this one, in the belief it was still made. Osswald in Zurich has been sold out since 22 September; ParfuMaria in the Netherlands still took orders for the 100 ml at €170 on 24 October.
